Nakusp at a Glance
Located in the centre of three different mountain chains (the Selkirk Mountains,
the Valhalla Mountains and the Monashee Mountains) and on the east shore of
the Arrow Lakes, this West Kootenays town offers spectacular views that are
sure to impress any nature lover. Originally established as a mining town in
the early 1900s, its history is on display at the Nakusp
Museum. The town is now host to a plethora of outdoor activities, such as
golfing, hiking, fishing, skiing, rock climbing and mountain biking. Many of
these activities can be undertaken at nearby Burton
Historical Park and McDonald
Creek Provincial Park. The city's claim to fame is its two natural hot springs,
Halcyon
Hot Springs and Nakusp
Hot Springs. Visitors to these thermal outdoor pools can soak in the warm
water while gazing at the spectacular scenery around them, a combination of
alpine peaks, crystal blue lakes and rivers, and a forested region home to an
abundance of wildlife.
